Happy New Year to you all! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season, just as we did here. Unfortunately, as always, Christmas went far too quickly, and now my daughter is back at school and my hubby is at work. Well actually he’s working at home because he has a very poorly shoulder, but that’s another story for another day…
I’m back at my desk this morning, but finding it a bit hard to get into the swing… This has been made worse by builders being next door and my dog deciding that she needs to protect us all from them – whether we like it or not! Still, on we go and hopefully things will be a bit more positive this afternoon.
So what to expect in 2018? Well of course I have two titles out in the first half of the year. The Battered Body Beneath the Flagstones and other Victorian Scandals is published in April, then The Girl: Marilyn Monroe, The Seven Year Itch and the Birth of an Unlikely Feminist is with us in May. To say I am excited about these two titles would be an understatement!
Writing about Victorians has been such a wonderful experience because I have always been interested in the people of this era, but never had the opportunity to work on a project about them. I am now pretty obsessed, to the point where my hubby bought me two Victorian murder books for Christmas. Both by Jan Bondeson, these books are a gripping read for anyone interested in murder mysteries and of course, Victorians. I read The Ripper of Waterloo Road in two days and I’m looking forward to Rivals of the Ripper as well.
Of course my next book after Victorian Scandals will be The Girl. I actually can’t believe that we’re just four months away from publication and I’m ecstatic with the way it has come out. I read the proofs shortly before Christmas, and I’m due to sign off on the final, complete package next week. After that it will go to the printer and then it will be full-steam-ahead towards publication! What a dream-come-true to work on such a ground-breaking project. It’s been an ambition of mine to present Marilyn as a woman of bravery and intellect, and I’ll be forever grateful to Running Press for giving me the opportunity.
After the publication of these two books, what else is for me? Well I’m going to continue writing lots of non-fiction of course, but I’ve also taken tentative steps towards a career in fiction too. You read it here first! I’ve started to write a psychological thriller and I must say, I’m enjoying it immensely. I read a lot of the genre, so to write one of my own is entertaining and a learning experience. I’ll keep you up-to-date with any news regards that, when it is finished!
I’m really looking forward to doing publicity for both my upcoming books and I’ll be sure to let everyone know about media appearances, reviews etc. Don’t forget you can keep in touch and up-to-date on my social media platforms, namely The Official Michelle Morgan Author Page on Facebook, and @MMWriterGirl on Instagram and Twitter. However, I’m probably most active on Instagram, so please give me a follow. You’ll also see photos of my crazy dog on that page, so what’s not to like?! 🙂
I’m going to be posting lots on the blog in the weeks and months ahead, so please come back often.
Much love and Happy New Year!
