First of all, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who entered the competition to win a copy of The Battered Body Beneath the Flagstones and Other Victorian Scandals. I had loads of entries on social media and some were funny, others a little scary, but all of them entertaining. In the end though, there could only be one winner and that was Paul Maggs. Paul imagined himself as a top Victorian hairdresser called Paulatious Scandla! Paulatious would attract wealthy women to his salon, and then scalp them and sell their beautiful hair to the elite society, to be made into glamorous and expensive wigs. The bodies would then be burned and ground down to powder to accessorise the wigs! Yikes, don’t try this at home!! I have to say that Paulatious sounds like someone not to be messed with! Luckily in real life Paul Maggs is a lovely man and now the proud owner of a signed copy of The Battered Body. Congratulations Paul!!
Now onto other news…
I was thrilled that Andrea Pryke from YouTube channel Andrea’s Attic, gave my book a great review. Andrea has been very kind about my work in the past and is also going to review The Girl when it is out. 🙂 You can watch Andrea’s video about The Battered Body, below and please hit that subscribe button, too!
My article, Ten Scandals of the Victorian Age was published in The Sunday Express yesterday, and I was really excited to pick up my copy! If you weren’t able to get a newspaper yourself, never fear! The article is now online, and you can read it here.
Over the past few days, I’m thrilled to say that my book has had a nice boost in sales. So thanks to everyone who has mentioned it on social media or ordered a copy. It has been great to see your photos of the book arriving in your homes! I’m incredibly grateful for your support, and it would be fantastic if you could leave a review on Amazon too. Thank you!
I think that’s all I have to report today but I’m sure there will be more news in the coming days, so please come back soon. 🙂
Until next time,
