So here I am, back to my blog after what seems like forever! I’m so sorry I haven’t updated it for a few weeks, but I’ve been crazy busy with my projects and then I was on holiday last week. I’ll get back to regular blogging really soon, but for now here is a lowdown of what I’ve been up to…
First of all, I was thrilled to receive the Korean version of my Madonna book, recently. It was actually published several years ago but this is the first time I’ve seen a copy. As you can see in the photo, it has a beautiful cover, showing Madonna in her Blond Ambition days. Inside is exactly the same as the English version, except that it is in Korean of course! 🙂 It’s always fascinating and thrilling when I receive foreign editions of my books and I hope to add more to my collection in the coming years.
As you know, I’ve been working on another non-fiction project for the past six months or so. I’m happy to say that the first draft of that book is now finished and I’m editing as we speak. My deadline is 1 July and I’m pretty confident that it will be in a fit state to send to the publisher by then. While I’m not able to share what the book is about just yet, I can say that it has been quite an adventure putting it all together. Without giving too much away, it has involved elements I’ve never done before, such as organising photoshoots for instance! Many of my friends and family have been involved with the process and it’s been a fun ride. I’ll be really happy when I can tell you all what it’s about, so watch this space for more news coming soon.
Apart from working on my book, I’ve also been taking part in tonnes of publicity for The Battered Body Beneath the Flagstones and The Girl. I’ve added everything I’ve done in the Media section of my page, but in short I’ve written articles for The Lady and Yours Retro; I’ve been interviewed on the Bernie Keith radio show (you can see me, my parents, Bernie and his dog Riley in this photo), and today I’ll be on Talk Radio Europe. I’ve been interviewed for three articles for The Weekly News and wrote a piece for Female First. In the coming weeks I’ll be on several Podcasts, including The Juno Files and Cinescapism, and will be sure to send links when the interviews go live. For now though, please pop along to the Media page to check out links to various items, follow me on Twitter or Instagram (@MMWriterGirl) for all the latest news, and look out for The Weekly News and Yours Retro, both of which have articles in this week’s issues.
When I was in Weymouth last week, I recorded a few videos to highlight aspects of The Girl and The Battered Body Beneath the Flagstones. I really enjoyed doing them and they have had a great response from readers. Here they are, just in case you missed them:
Hear a little about the tragic story of Sarah Guy, who was kept prisoner in a garden shed in Victorian Weymouth. Read the whole story in my book, The Battered Body Beneath the Flagstones and other Victorian Scandals. #victorianscandals #weymouth #weymouthhistory #history #victorianmurder #dorset #mystery #disappearance #littlebrownuk
I’m pretty sure that covers everything I’ve been doing in the past few weeks, but do please check out the Media page for more information. If you see any other media that I haven’t mentioned, please let me know! Thank you.
I’ll be back very soon with another blog but before I go I’d just like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has posted photos of my latest books on social media. I love seeing your pictures, so please keep tagging me and I’ll keep sharing. 🙂
Until next time,
